Background

Town Meeting appropriated funds during the May 2023 session so allow the Town to hire a consultant to support our efforts and focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The community has been dealing with inclusivity concerns. This includes issues faced by the community during the pandemic and numerous protests coupled with the Town’s exit from the civil service process. The Town is looking to address critical shortcomings in order to better engage and include our region’s diverse population.

The Town initiated a Request for Proposals (RFP) to engage a qualified firm to conduct an organizational assessment, provide specialized facilitation, create an employee training plan, and start community and employee education programs in support of the development of a strategic plan that will move the Town forward towards integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and on boards and committees. A goal of this initiative is to create a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategic plan which would provide the organizational assessment’s findings and a short- and long-term roadmap for making material improvements in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and provide educational resources and trainings guidance for current and future employees.

The RFP closed in November 2023. The Town received nine proposals which are listed below.

The Review Committee completed the review, interviews, and shortlisting process. Three respondent teams have been selected from the process and will make a presentation to the Select Board on May 15, 2024 (new date). The three shortlisted teams include:
