Dog Licenses / Park Passes

Swampscott Dog License

All dogs in the Town of Swampscott must be licensed annually pursuant to M.G. L. Chapter 140, § 137 & the Town of Swampscott’s General Bylaw Article V, Section 15. The Town Clerk’s Office must, by law, have a copy of proof of rabies prior to licensing.

 

Pooch Pass

The Swampscott Park for Off-Leash Time is 15,000 sq. feet of fenced-in space for your pup to enjoy located behind the Swampscott Cemetery. A yearly "Pooch Pass" is required for dogs using the park. This pass supports general upkeep of the park.

 

Dog Licenses and Pooch Passes can be purchased in three different ways:

 
1. ONLINE:

You will need to create an account and pay for your fee online. You will be able to upload a current rabies certificate (dog licensing). Your license(s) will be mailed to you as soon as your payment is processed (a few business days), provided a current proof of rabies is on file and your dog(s) are currently licensed with the Town (for pooch passes).

2. BY MAIL:

Mail all of the following to the Town Clerk’s Office, 22 Monument Avenue, Swampscott, MA  01907 (*Please Write Dog Licensing on outside of envelope*)

  1. A completed Dog License application, Pooch Pass application, or both
  2. A check for your purchase made payable to the “Town of Swampscott”
  3. A self-addressed stamped envelope.
  4. Copy of your dog’s rabies certificate (if not on already on file with the Town Clerk’s Office or Rabies is expired, please e-mail or call us to confirm if need be).
3. IN PERSON:
  • Visit the Town Clerk’s Office with proof of rabies (if not on file with the Town Clerk’s Office or expired). 
  • Note: only cash or check are accepted at Town Hall
  • Town Hall hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8am-5pm, Wednesday 8am-7pm

 

Pooch Pass Fee: $5.00 per dog
