Solid Waste Advisory Committee

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee held a public hearing on October 25th, 2023 to receive feedback on a newly drafted bylaw proposed for food establishments operating in the Town of Swampscott. The bylaw offers comprehensive regulation for the use of single use containers, single use plastics accessories, recycling requirements, and a new consumer advisory. There was also an open public comment period until November 8th. The committee actively sought all public input and submitted its final recommendation to both the Board of Health, and the Select Board on November 15th, 2023. The Board of Health voted to support its recommendation, and the Select Board is actively discussing it. The bylaw proposal is on the December 11th Town Meeting Warrant..
