Community Meeting Regarding Future of the Library on 8/29/20

The Trustees of the Swampscott Public Library are inviting townspeople to a community informational meeting concerning the future of the Swampscott Library on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 am.  The meeting will be held on the town green next to the library and we will have seating, recognizing social distancing.  The meeting will be led by a representative of Lavallee Brensinger Architects, Ron Lamarre, who will outline the steps that are being taken  to provide the trustees with a ten-year plan for the library.  Ron Lamarre wishes to have the input of the residents so that he can correctly answer the needs of the community.  The Trustees realize that we have a great library here in Swampscott, but know that we can make improvements  in order to answer future needs. We see this meeting as a follow up to our ongoing survey.

The Library seeks to learn:

  1. Are there Activities or Activity Spaces our community needs to take place at our Library?
  2. Are there questions / responses that were not on the Library Survey that you wish to share?
  3. Are there Services you need from our Library?
  4. Are there any aspects of our Library that “should not change” and / or aspects that “need to change”?

We would love to have input from town residents in order to provide a library that is responding to the needs of the 21st century.  After we listen and learn, we will then present the thoughts and findings of the staff, Friends, and Trustees from our review of the above questions.

There is no registration required to attend the meeting. A raindate of August 30th at 4:00 has been set. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their suggestions for a better library.
