Town Meeting Members

I am a current Town Meeting Member and my term expires in 2024, what do I need to do?

  1. If you were on the ballot last year, you must submit a Notice of Re-Election.
  2. If you were not on the ballot last election and obtained a Town Meeting Member seat through write-in vote vote or caucus vote or you were not a Town Meeting Member at all, you will need to submit a Declaration of Intent, pick up Nomination Papers, and obtain at least ten certified signatures from registered voters in your precinct.

* If you have moved into a new precinct, you will need to follow the directions for scenario #2 above.

 

Where can I send my Notice of Re-Election/Declaration of Intent Papers?

You may return your Notice of Re-Election or Declaration of Intent by visiting the Town Clerk's office, using the drop box outside of Town Hall, via fax to 781-596-8870, or via email to clerks@swampscottma.gov

 

Do I need to get signatures/Nomination Papers?

Anyone required to submit a Declaration of Intent must obtain Nomination Papers and get signatures.

 

Where do I get Nomination Papers?

Nomination Papers can be obtained in person at the Town Clerk's office at Town Hall, 22 Monument Ave, Swampscott, MA.

Any registered voter in your precinct.

How many signatures do I need to obtain to get on the ballot as a Town Meeting member?

Ten (10) qualified signatures. Signatures must be WET signatures, e-signatures are not allowed.

Friday, March 8th, 2024 at 5:00 pm.

 

When is the deadline to RETURN/SUBMIT my Nomination Papers or Notice of Re-Election?

I am interested in running for an Elected Office, what positions are available?

The following Elected Offices will be on the April 30, 2024 Town Election Ballot:

Vote for ONE MODERATOR - 1 Year Term
Vote for ONE SELECT BOARD members - 3 Year Terms
Vote for ONE BOARD OF ASSESSOR member - 3 Year Term
Vote for ONE SCHOOL COMMITTEE members - 3 Year Terms
Vote for ONE TRUSTEE OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY member - 3 Year Term
Vote for ONE BOARD OF HEALTH member - 3 Year Term
Vote for ONE PLANNING BOARD member - 5 Year Term
Vote for ONE HOUSING AUTHORITY member - 5 Year Term
