Swampscott Town Hall Open by Appointment Only Starting November 30

Due to COVID-19, Town Hall will be open to the public by appointment only. This rollback to earlier operations employed this spring contributes to the Town’s effort to minimize community spread and help protect residents and employees.

Services provided by Town Hall Departments, which may include Applications for Licenses and Permits, Marriage Licenses, Final Water/Sewer Bills, etc. will now be taking place either online, by mail or over the telephone where practicable.  In-person services at Town Offices will be available in extraordinary circumstances by appointment only, which can take place during normal work hours in a limited area of the Town Hall building. Individuals will need to contact Town Offices by telephone, and a determination will be made whether the services can practicably take place online, via telephone or email and whether an in-person appointment is necessary.

Payments for taxes, parking tickets and water/sewer bills can be made in the following ways:

  • Secure mail drop located near the entrance to Town Hall – this is available 24 hours, 7 days a week, and will be monitored throughout the day.  Please be sure to deposit your payment and bill information in a sealed envelope.
  • Mail-In Lockbox service – Included with each original bill is a remittance slip and return envelope.  Simply mail your check payment in the envelope provided, with the remittance slip, to the address indicated on the remittance slip.
  • Online bill payment portal – From the Town of Swampscott’s homepage, located at www.swampscottma.gov, you can click on “Online Payments” and settle your payments electronically.
