Swampscott Seeks Volunteers for Swampscott Television Visioning Committee

The Town of Swampscott seeks residents to discuss the future of Community Access Television in our town by joining the Swampscott Television Visioning Committee.  As we begin negotiations with Verizon for a new contract in 2021,  we want to understand how residents might see our ability to provide programming change, and how residents might be more involved in content creation.  Contract negotiations are an opportunity to ask for increased funding, for both operating expenses and equipment costs.  This committee will meet monthly through the early summer of 2021 to consider possibilities for expanding our services.  Those selected to the committee will be expected to attend all meetings.  The general public will be invited to observe and contribute to these meetings.  These conversations will inform the negotiations and ultimate request that the town delivers to Verizon in 2021 and Comcast in 2026.

The team of 11 will include 4 members of the Town staff negotiating team, one member of the Select Board, and residents meeting the following criteria:

  • One member from the local arts community
  • One member from the local youth sports community
  • One member of the Board of Library Trustees (or a designee)
  • One member of the Swampscott for All Ages Committee (or a designee)
  • One Swampscott High School Alumnus
  • One member of the Open Space and Recreation Committee (or a designee)

To be considered for appointment to the Swampscott Television Visioning Committee, please submit a statement of interest, including your name, address, phone number, and a brief statement describing your interest and any background information that you believe may be helpful, to Allie Fiske at afiske@swampscottma.gov by 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, November 20.
