COVID-19 Holiday Safety Tips
The holidays are upon us! Please consider these important recommendations as you celebrate with your family and friends over the next few months during this holiday season:
- Get vaccinated to protect yourself as well as those around you that remain vulnerable to COVID-19 - especially young children, who may not be eligible to get vaccinated or are not fully vaccinated yet.
- Please get a booster dose if you are eligible. To find out if you are eligible to get a booster dose, visit: https://www.cdc.gov/.../2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html.
- If you are not fully vaccinated, wear a mask indoors. Also, some fully vaccinated people may be carrying the virus, but do not show symptoms, so please wear a mask indoors if a member of your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, is unvaccinated, or is not fully vaccinated.
- If possible, and weather permitting, hold gatherings outdoors – especially when there will be anyone in attendance that is immunocompromised and/or children that are not vaccinated or are not fully vaccinated.
- If you do get together indoors, consider reducing your risk for three days beforehand and take a rapid test that morning to make sure that you and your family are negative. In addition, keep windows open to allow for air circulation while you are gathered indoors.
- Avoid crowded, poorly ventilated spaces.
- Check the level of COVID-19 transmission before you go out: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-viewand. Please wear a mask indoors if the area that you are visiting is in high (red) or substantial (orange) transmission.
- If you plan to travel, please review the CDC’s guidance: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/
- Do not attend a Thanksgiving gathering and do not have anyone over to your house if you or anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19, or has symptoms of COVID-19, or are awaiting test results.
