Marriage License

Any couple planning to get married in Massachusetts must file a Notice of Intention of Marriage. The couple must appear at the Town Clerk’s Office together, during regular business hours, to file the intention and pay the $25.00 filing fee. The marriage license is issued after a three calendar day waiting period and is valid for 60 days from filing. After the wedding, the officiant (priest, minister, rabbi, Justice of the Peace) must return the completed and signed marriage license to the Town Clerk for recording and registration. The document then becomes a marriage certificate and certified copies can be issued as needed by mail or in person as outlined above.

Copies can be issued as needed by mail or in person as outlined above.
