Preservation of Historically Significant Buildings

Swampscott General By-Laws, Article IX Uses of Land, Section 4:
Demolition Delay Bylaw

Over the years, familiar landmarks, public buildings and grand old estates have disappeared from our common landscape, changing the face of Swampscott forever.  A demolition review bylaw helps protect the historically significant buildings that still exist in our town.  Such a bylaw is an important component in our the Town Planning process.  We hope that the following will provide you with the information necessary to understand its intent and how it works.
