Complete Streets

Bringing Complete Streets to Swampscott

Complete Streets are streets for everyone, no matter who they are or how they travel—walking, biking, taking transit or driving. Through our Swampscott 2025 : The Master Plan process, the Town of Swampscott identified both the need and public desire to bring Complete Streets principles to the community.

Current Phase

The Town of Swampscott is working with staff from Howard Stein Hudson to develop the community's Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. Thank you to MassDOT for providing the reimbursement funding for this phase of the project.

As part of the development of the Prioritization Plan, the Town will host a public meeting to discuss our work on the Plan. The Town and the consultant team will introduce the Complete Streets Program, present initial findings, and ask the community for feedback.

Complete Streets are those that provide safe and accessible options for all travel modes - walking, biking, transit, vehicles - for people of all ages and abilities. The Complete Streets Program is a MassDOT-funded initiative to help municipalities make infrastructure improvemnts on municipally-owned roadways to better serve all users. The Town of Swampscott has started work on the Complete Streets Prioritization Plan, which will rank viable projects and community input is a vital part of the development of this plan.

Come learn about the Program and give us your ideas and visions for safe and accessible transportation for people of all ages and abilities.
